Hungry

Now I’m sitting here, still not chewing loud enough, listening to his halfway advice. My brow pinches while he spills his thoughtless words about “shoulds” and “if I wanna’s.” But I chew louder. Focus goes to getting everything off the bone.

There’s no use responding to generosity with counterpoints.

My stomach grows quiet, though I still go hungry refusing to swallow my pride.
